“We’ve never done something like this before.”
“Will people want to participate in the campaign?”
“What will happen to our general fund giving?”
“Will this be too much work?”
Maybe you’ve said some of these same things. We want you to know that you’re not alone. Converge MidAmerica is here to walk through this process with you the whole way. We’ve done this before, and we know it can be done. We’ll walk through this together!
We also want you to know that the tasks in a campaign are meant to be shared among many people. The more people who participate in making the capital campaign happen, the more ownership you will experience within your congregation. Our desire is that up to 50% of your congregation will be involved in the campaign process.
Finally, we believe that prayer is a critical piece of this entire process. God will answer your prayers for His presence, His wisdom and His blessing along the way. What else do we possibly need?
Feeling any better? You will, we promise! Capital Campaigns are as much a discipleship process as it is a money-raising venture. Our prayer for you and your church is that you will see God’s purposes for your church and community in a greater way, and that your people will grow in their knowledge and love for our Savior Jesus.
Each stage is intended to move you along the campaign journey. The first three are the private phase and much of this portion of the campaign will be behind the scenes. The next two stages are the public phase. They are the shortest, and most visible, portion of the entire campaign. The last phase, the follow-up phase, might be the most important part, as campaigns are only successful as you keep the vision and progress constantly in front of your people.
So are you ready to start your journey? We would love to join you, and be amazed together by our God, who wants to do “Far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (Eph, 3:20).
