Converge MidAmerica | Southeast celebrates a rich history of diversity. We have been blessed by our partnerships with our African American Churches and are seeking better ways to serve African American Church as we reach the African American community and beyond with the gospel of Jesus.
In this spirit, Dr. Fred Obleton has begun serving our churches in the areas of recruiting new pastors and church planters while bringing encouragement to our 50+ African American Churches throughout Converge MidAmerica | Southeast.
“As African-American (AA) coordinator for Converge, I am excited about the potential we have to influence new churches and strengthen existing churches. Part of the strategy we have started and will continue is to initiate more touching points in the district with African American pastors and wives to gather for the purpose of being ministered to and empowered through gathering in order to be more effective. One such event happened on July 20th with the African American pastors and wives in the Detroit metroplex area at Moody Theological Seminary where a dinner was served along with an inspiring message on how to handle stress after a pandemic. It was an evening of encouragement and hope. In addition, I am looking forward to reaching out to African American youth pastors and African American millennial pastors in our district to both develop relationships, establish community and identify how to more effectively reach Millennial, Gen Z and the Alpha Generation. ” Fred Obleton
